Free Tennis Courts in Bangkok — Where to Play Without Paying

Guide to free tennis courts in Bangkok. Lumphini Park and other public courts where you can play tennis in Bangkok without booking or paying.

Tennis in Bangkok does not have to be expensive. While most of the city's clubs charge 500–1,200 THB per hour for court hire, there are genuine free public courts available if you know where to look.

This guide covers the free and very low-cost tennis options in Bangkok, based on verified online sources.

Government Sport Complexes (Low Cost)

Bangkok's government-run sport complexes offer subsidised court hire, typically 100–300 THB per hour — far below private club rates.

Phaya Thai Sports Complex (Phaya Thai district) and similar municipal complexes across the city offer tennis facilities at heavily subsidised rates. Facilities vary — some are basic. How to find them: Search Google Maps for "สนามเทนนิส" (tennis court) in your district and filter for government or BMA (Bangkok Metropolitan Administration) facilities. Most require walk-in booking on the day.

Parks with Public Courts (Verify Locally)

Several Bangkok parks and community recreation areas have tennis courts that may be free or very low cost. Availability and condition vary. These are worth checking in your local area:

  • District-run parks in Chatuchak, Lat Phrao, and Bang Kapi districts have been reported to have public courts
  • School and university courts sometimes permit community use outside school hours — worth asking locally
Note: We have not been able to independently verify every public park court in Bangkok. The above is based on what appears in online sources. If you find a free or low-cost court not listed here, the information is worth sharing in the love.tennis community.

Is Free Tennis Worth It in Bangkok?

For casual rallying and fitness, Lumphini Park is excellent — it is convenient, central, and costs nothing. For anyone wanting structured coaching, consistent court quality, or regular play with a fixed partner, a low-cost club membership or pay-per-session club (from around 500 THB/hr) is usually a better option.

The love.tennis platform lists sessions across Bangkok, including social hit sessions that are often more affordable than solo court hire. Browse sessions →
